The Panthers dropped their preseason opener to the Indianapolis Colts that weekend in the form of a 21-18 loss but the most notable thing that came out of it was the play of backup quarterback P.J. Walker. In the second quarter, the former XFL standout was able to avoid a sack in the red zone, roll right, and fire a dart to tight end Tommy Tremble for a touchdown. Walker’s play, while Sam Darnold remains the Carolina starter is something you should be paying attention to.

With a victory of 17-14 over the Ravens, they extended their preseason winning streak by 18 games. This was won largely because of their defense. Baltimore forced six turnovers during the exhibition, including Jameis Winston, Taysom Hill, and Ian Book being intercepted for their respective interceptions. We will see if their backup defensive defenders have similar turnover success in Charlotte.
